From: zhu lili Subject: Chapter 7: and frizz frazz she fried Date: Tue, 5 Oct 1999 13:26:54 -0700 (PDT) To: anp8@columbia.edu showering can be.... interesting. but, a new water heater has been installed in the dormitory's "showers" (actually the "shower is a pipe coming from the ceiling and a drain in the floor). (Think Bayi hotel in Changzhi, except it's cleaner, and doesn't have a shower curtain.) Water heater. It's electric. Electricity. Water. Electricity. Water. There's an electric plug hanging in the author's shower. While showering, she remembers her mommy's wordsof wisdom: "don't bring electrical apliances into the bathtub." She wonders, "do the same rules apply in China?" Not if you have a Zen bubble. ...but what about that small electrical fire that started in the firedetectorless dormitory the other night? The one that prompted this sign: Important Notice: NO SHOWERING SUNDAY OR UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE> We are having problems with our electricity and it is currently not safe to use either the old or new shower. Any questions, please see..... Hmmm.... ===== __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Bid and sell for free at http://auctions.yahoo.com
